[ It's been a couple of days since the whole infection thing ended, and Ragna is beyond tired. His memories of how that went down are hazy at best, but a part of him wishes he could forget it completely. Of course, he's not that lucky, and while he's not clear on the details, he's acutely aware of what he did. Ragna is no stranger to killing, mind you, but he likes to think even he wouldn't stoop so low as to murder innocent people who had done nothing to him, and yet... that is exactly what he did. It's revolting to think about, knowing that he could just lose control like that. Sure, he could blame it on whatever bullshit this place pulled to force him to do it, but he knows better than that; at the end of the day, regardless of what facilitated it, his actions are his own, and so is the responsibility for them.
Which is why, once he's had some time to process everything, he decides to swallow his pride, reach out and own up to his failures. ]
hey
[ He'd spent hours agonizing over how to approach this conversation, and somehow, every venue seems terrible. Ragna stares at the device in his hands, tempted to smash it to pieces to avoid the subject altogether. What can he even say? ]
sorry
[ Wow, that sounds pathetic. He certainly won't blame her if she just leaves him on read for this one. ]
[Vi's beyond tired, too. she'd died... again. at least it wasn't by Silco's hands this time, and she'd been able to protect those she'd ultimately cared about. Caitlyn and Jinx had been healed, Ekko was okay...
she had just woken up on Monday feeling like she'd just woke up from a dirt nap. which she kinda had.
she didn't expect the text message from Ragna though, and she raises her eyebrow. she makes sure this is a private line (just because she doesn't exactly want for Jinx to find out about this) before answering. fortunately, you killed the right person Ragna because:]
this place fucked with our heads again. you weren't yourself.
[because there should be no other thing that he'd be apologizing for tbh.]
[ Well, at least she's being a good sport about it. Maybe it's because of the thing with Silco? He'd never had the privilege (or misfortune, depending on how you look at it) to remember any of his deaths, so he didn't get used to it, but he figures it would've gotten less and less impressive with each time.
The assumption it's all due to Gnosia doesn't exactly sit well with him, however; sure, the overall desire to kill might have been caused by the infection, but if that was all there was to it, he could've simply cut her down with a sword, not... that. ]
[ Easy for her to say... Unfortunately, Ragna is not known for being able to accept a good thing presented to him, and he's stupidly stupid about it. So despite her offering him absolution, he refuses to take it. ]
look despite what some people might assume, I don't like going around killing people willy-nilly and I still did it's on me for letting that happen
There is a part of him that wants to say that no, that's not all, but at the same time... he doesn't want to get into the details of why he believes that to be the case. If she's in favor of moving on, then perhaps that's for the best... he'll deal with his demons on his own, like always. ]
if you say so
[ There's another matter that probably requires addressing... which is why, he sends a follow-up message after a brief pause. ]
so about Jinx
[ ... You know what? He's not actually sure what he's trying to say here, so he's just gonna leave it like that and hope Vi can figure out what he's trying to accomplish with it. ]
