Ekko's...? Oh gods, Vi. I'm so sorry. I wish I remembered what happened-- [Of course she was worried about her friends, and apparently she was right to do so. Ekko was missing?? And if Vi was right, and his name had disappeared, then.... that meant he was probably gone. Again. Was it somehow her fault? Did her dying play into his disappearance? She couldn't be sure, but if Scott was who told Vi, maybe she could ask him about what transpired, since her memories were lacking. She tries not to feel guilty, but without knowing one way or the other, it's hard not to.
It doesn't matter that they've basically been together for the better part of the last year, it still brings warmth to her cheeks when she feels Vi's hand brushing her hair aside. Vi's never been the biggest touchy-feely person, but Caitlyn's never been one to hold back a touch of affection. And she does just that, cupping the side of Vi's face in her hands, letting her thumb stroke her cheek gently.]
It's not your fault. You couldn't have known this would happened. [She knows Vi well enough to know that's what she's thinking-- she thinks, if she had been there, Caitlyn wouldn't have been hurt, and probably that Ekko wouldn't have disappeared either. But they can't know that. Maybe things would've been worse, and maybe Vi would have been hurt or killed too.]
[even though they'd been in this place so long, it still surprises her when Caitlyn seems to know exactly what she's thinking. it threatens to undo her, with her gentle touch and words.
her hand falls back into her lap, and she leans her head into the other woman's touch. she can fight her emotions, to an extent, but she doesn't have to pretend not to enjoy the attention.]
Maybe. We'll never know now.
[then she puts her hand up on the hand that's cupping her face, and she exhales. Caitlyn is here. she's warm and solid.
but she has something else to say now, because of course she won't let herself dwell on this sort of thing for long:]
You look kind of a mess, Cupcake. Maybe I can help you take a shower?
[It's going to drive Caitlyn crazy to not have answers. If there's one thing she hates more than anything, it's not knowing. Until she knows exactly what happened on their mission, and how exactly she ended up dead, it's going to drive her nuts. But one thing is for sure, and it's that Vi is very good at distracting her, intentionally or not.
At least, from the bad thinking. She still notices the state of their place. Vi had never been the tidiest of people, but it's clear she's expressed her frustration and anger on her environment. Things can be replaced. The wall can be fixed. It might not be the healthiest of coping mechanisms, but she can hardly blame Vi for being upset. If Vi had left for a mission and not come home, she would be upset too. It's been one of Caitlyn's biggest fears, for something to happen and separate them-- even if it was just going back home.
But the majority of Caitlyn's frets and concerns take a backseat at Vi's very obvious suggestion. She fights a smirk, but Vi still gets a hint of an eye roll. She's not mad at the suggestion, and sees right through Vi's demeanor. She likes to play big and tough, but Caitlyn can tell how badly Vi missed her. She doesn't have to say it out loud. Caitlyn knows, especially considering what a mess Vi looks like. Has Vi even showered, in the time she's been gone?]
I would love your help. [She leans forward, pressing a gentle kiss to Vi's lips. Her next sentence is barely more than a whisper right to Vi's ear, intentionally to be a tease.] You do always have a way with getting the spots I can't reach.
[listen, Vi's showered. but between working out and all the other shit she's been doing, she's been dirtier than normal. she'd tried to stay out of the house as much as possible, after all.
Vi laughs in a sort of breathless way after that kiss from Caitlyn, and she feels her heart flutter at the mental image of her hands all over her. oh, does she want her...
but she attempts to pick up the other woman now, bridal style.]
Don't tease the woman who can pick up your body weight.
[Look. Vi isn't exactly known to be the best at taking care of herself. Her default is caring for everyone else. Without Caitlyn there, who takes care of her? So knowing she was alone, and probably intentionally isolating herself, working herself to the brink...Caitlyn knows Vi needs a break. To rest, and just...enjoy herself.
Even if it wasn't very long that they were apart in her memory, any amount of time apart was hard. Vi doesn't always say it, but this was clearly hard on her, too. They've been a couple in all but name for the better part of a year now. They might not voice their feelings, but they were always obvious to each other.]
Oh--! [Aaaand, yep, there goes Vi, scooping her up into her arms. A sound of surprise escaped her lips, but it quickly turned into laughter.]
You say that like that isn't one of the things I find the most attractive about you. [Vi is hot, okay? For the lack of better words. And it's extremely hot, how strong and powerful she is. Seriously, it's taking hardly any effort to carry her now. She relaxes easily into her grasp, but not without wrapping her arms around Vi's neck. It's not really to hold on, in the sense that she's afraid she'll be dropped, but more because she just wants her hands on Vi, too. So while Vi's carrying her, her fingers entwine in the short hairs at the nape of Vi's neck, letting herself lean against her.]
so what if this stupid place is a simulation... she knows that Caitlyn's real, without a doubt. that she's alive again. she doesn't know how this place resurrects people, but... she also doesn't care. people smarter than her can figure that sort of thing out.
but now, Cait's in her arms again.
she sets her down when she gets into the bathroom with a kiss to the cheek. she starts to turn the shower on too, letting herself feel so happy for now.]
Alright, let's get this stink off you. You're gross.
